With a core humanistic training integrating Person Centred, Gestalt and Transactional Analysis approaches to counselling/psychotherapy Cathy remains interested in blending Psychological, Sociological and Physiological understanding with Neuroscience.
“ … I am fascinated by how ‘old brain/new brain’ understanding ‘fits’ into my work with clients, trainees, supervisees…..indeed almost universally…..” the ‘bit’ in the middle? The space between the couple/family/group? …. or simply between the self and ‘other’ be it environmental or non-human …… the relationship and meaning created by the alchemy at the point of ‘contact’ or ‘involvement”.
Cathy’s delivery of training is passionate, dynamic and creatively experiential, enabling participants to transfer theory into practice.
“I believe good therapy, of any kind, is rooted in the ‘How’ … which rhymes with Here and Now, coming full circle to the ‘current space between’ – the relational alchemy be it counsellor and client, a couple/family or group of any kind……….. or between human and animal…. object, substance or behaviour.”
Whilst offering containment and maintaining boundaries Cathy allows training groups to ‘meet’ and ‘join’ in a way that shape and determine the growth and development of that particular group during the training….. by managing the group in the Here and Now, the ‘How’ can be not only intellectually understood and ‘reasoned’, it can also be experience.
