‘Sex’ can manifest in the therapy room in many ways. Values, attitudes and beliefs can make ‘sex’ good or bad, shameful or liberating, joyous or demeaning.
When entering the world of the client, counsellors and psychotherapists may be taken to places where their own values and experience of ‘sex’ and sexually related concerns are challenged
The training will be 12hours CPD and address the following:-
- Sex and History
- Sex and Religion
- Sex and Culture
- Sex and Development
Sexually related issues brought to therapy with individuals and couples:-
- Sex as expression of Love
- Sex and Compulsion – the ‘Casanova’ and ‘Lady-Killer’s Lady’ phenomenon
- Sex and Disability
- Sexual Fetish vs. Paraphilia
- Sexual Dysfunction and loss of desire
- Sex and 21st Century technology – any time, any place, any fantasy!!
Sexually related issues raised within the therapeutic relationship:-
- rotic Transference and Desire
- Shame and disgust
- Envy and vicarious ‘voyeurism’
- The Law
The training will respect and value diversity of values and psychological approaches to working therapeutically with ‘Sex’ and encourage experiential understanding of theory.
